Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get a warranty?

New roof installations come with a 10-year warranty. Repair works do not usually carry a guarantee. Please refer to our terms and conditions for full details.

Should I jet wash my roof?

We advise against it. Pressure washers can damage the roof covering and cause fixings to deteriorate. Unnecessary foot traffic can also crack or dislodge tiles and slates.

How much does lead flashing cost?

Lead flashing prices start from £200 + VAT, depending on the size and complexity of the job.

How much does chimney repair cost?

Every chimney is different — the cost depends on the extent of the repair required. Common works include pointing and flaunching (capping), and lead works such as soakers, flashings, front aprons and back gutters. Get in touch for a free assessment.

How much does gutter repair cost?

Gutter repairs start from £80 + VAT. Get in touch for a free quote.

Should I replace my slates with concrete tiles?

We’d recommend getting a structural engineer’s report before switching. Concrete tiles are significantly heavier than slate, which can put extra stress on the roof structure.

Do I need planning permission to re-roof?

When re-roofing more than 25% of your roof, or changing the type of covering, you should notify your local council. Fees vary and certification is provided during or after the works.

Can I repair my flat roof myself?

Liquid repair coatings are available for DIY use, but these are generally a temporary fix. A professionally installed flat roof, done correctly, can last 20 years or more.

Does moss damage my roof?

Moss build-up can cause water ingress in certain weather conditions. It’s best to have it professionally removed — working at height requires scaffolding and incorrect foot placement can damage tiles or slates.

There’s water sitting on my flat roof — is that normal?

Pooling water is common where the roof hasn’t achieved enough of a fall to drain properly, often due to outlet pipes or window sills obstructing drainage. Most flat roof systems are designed to withstand ponding water without affecting waterproofing performance.
